E6 Ulsberg – Vindåsliene
This design and build project, located in the outskirts of Trondheim (Norway), is a 25-kilometre two-lane highway. Fuelsave was used in the early design phases of the project with a clear ambition to help reduce total CO2-emissions by at least 10%. Using Fuelsave, the designers could detect how two design alternatives, one a tunnel and the other a cut through the rock, differed with almost one billion Norwegian kroner in user cost over 60-year life cycle. As a consequence, the ambition could be reached easily.
